The Origin

In 1979 Geoffrey Wood Patterson Sr decided he wanted to own his own business. Partly he just didn’t want to have a boss anymore. He looked at his options and chose the world of comic books because he also wanted to enjoy what he was doing day to day. And with those pillars of independence and happiness he opened Geoffrey’s Comics.

At this point only a few comic stores existed in all of California. When we opened our Gardena Location, we were the 4th comic store in all of Los Angeles county. So trailblazing is in our veins as well. Geoff Sr grew his family with Geoff jr, bringing his son to work with him as often as he could. Throughout our history, we have had numerous guests such as Jack Kirby, J Scott Campbell, Geoff Johns, Jim Lee, Mark Waid, and Rob Liefield.

We have always carried a wide selection of classic comics. We care not only about the newest hottest thing, but the roots of comics history. Geoff Jr was raised in the bins of Geoffrey’s Comics, reading classic comics and modern comics as his education, and now brings his daughter when he can. And so Geoffrey’s Comics will always stand for family as well.
